The Wedge Co-op has one of the largest commercial solar water heating systems in the area. Thirteen 4'x8' collectors produce about 1,100 therms of heat for their deli's hot water annually.

Solar water heating

The system is expected to offset about 16.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year and is expected to pay for itself in about 12 years at current natural gas prices - faster as natural gas prices increase.
